Begin with the review, not the headline
An offer in compromise involves an IRS eligibility and financial evaluation. It cannot be established by a general description or by the appeal of paying less. Identify the account question, filing facts, and financial information that would need examination before treating the route as something appropriate for an individual situation.
Make the financial record explain itself
Prepare current income, expense, and asset information with source dates and supporting records. Mark estimates, shared-cost explanations, and incomplete details. Keep the factual basis visible rather than filling a form-like worksheet with figures whose origin cannot be explained. The record supports a review; it does not predict what the IRS will determine.
Keep alternatives in the foldout
Ask how an offer discussion compares with other ways to address the account and what happens if it is not available or accepted. Review the current official requirements and clarify any proposed professional work, fees, and stages. Keep the filing and payment pages open throughout the conversation, because naming a settlement route does not itself finish either underlying task.
